for your information, I already made a thread regarding AB inactivity, in which i posted several suggestions on what could have been done. do some research first before making such claims.
first off, my guild (which you probably dont even know, so it makes you even less credible from a pvp point of view) was fairly active (and "successful") in AB when it was actually still alive. second off, i know quite well what i'm on about, but you can fancy thinking i dont.
and no, its not as easy as pie to synch on kurz side - there are often 6+ teams entering so you can easily get 2 baddie teams, in which half the people leech/go afk (as they did last time i tried to AB).
moreover, you clearly missed my point about bip or gale warrs - it was GOOD players using lol elites for lolz because your so-called lux pros are just - average (and have a thing for linebacking). there's only a handful of AB-only people i actually consider good players, and none of them come from those guilds.
lemme repeat myself: luxons synch most of the time, always have been always will be, while kurzicks almost never synch. i dont get what yor point about swapping sides is - i want challenge on lux side, but i dont want 8 more le horribles when facing that challenge. swapping sides changes nothing, because you'll still be the only decent team around when you swap to whichever side. but attracting quality players (whats left of them) is something thats easier said than done.
at bungus, vD first became a very successful gvg guild (winning 2 mATs long before rawr days) and afterwards a few of its players (usually void and rok, before vD days also Leon and Oli) TAed regularly with me. often we'd also drop by in AB and it was actually one of the more enjoyable places to play in, unlike now. there's a big difference between AB-only synch stars who think they're teh shit when they stomp hordes of kurz baddies and vD (and a few AB players like fat disgrace, fredyl etc).
so he isnt really going hard on me, but merely discrediting himself by not really knowing what he's on about.

fredyl is a brilliant tactician (pugging for him sure as hell got adrenaline pumping), but his micro sucks balls, fatty however is one of the best sword warriors in the game . Our guilds however arent AB only synch stars (every guild u mention is in the same alliance ), and we sure as hell don't think we're the shit (as a matter of fact were all for good sportsmanship). We do a variety of things really, pve, gvg, HA, and whatnot. Theres some really strong players in our ally, but anno 2011 noone realy gives a toss. I used to synch a lot back then when I was in exit alliance, but we stopped doing that altogether cos we felt kinda dirty ^^. Once u get the reputation however it's kinda hard to get rid of it.

LOL theres always some baed melee riding my ass when I warr, even started slotting belly smash to get rid of those trolls. It's like a scruffy dog with a boner that just doesn't lay off.

I wont argue about guild tags, i play AB long enough, although prolly not that long as you. Swapping sides point is easy: nowadays there r just not enough ppl. So we had to swap back and forth to make match happen. This example with keys was really lucky one, altho unfortunately i didn't had a chance to play there this time. So it gave me idea of farming one side. But as i said not enough ppl, besides they get frustrated and either leave or switch side also. I still think the same: separate AB from fac. don. system, make new reward for it. It will bring new ppl.
PS. Your successes in HA/GvG dont tell me anything, i don't consider them better player than good AB player just looking at title. I need to see him on map. I saw enough heroes who lead like "censored" and then rage, or just rage after allies failed.

you dont understand. we just messed around so firefox once took bip and afterwards gale (once with and once without sig of energy). i dont pug ab, its even worse than raing. still steam rolled all the better teams thou...had quite some laughs during those few matches (gale on mesmer's bo, monks word and the likes).

p.s. i never mentioned ranks/titles nor do i judge a player according to them. i know who's good and who isnt, and since you dont know them i speak on their behalf. moreover, i alway rage at baddie allies and i WILL resign when we are losing with them 300:100 (where those 100 equal the kills my team made and points we've gained from shrines we capped). thou my guildies and others i play with are usually far more patient and less ragy i am.
anyhow, AB used to be second only to gvg/ta for me, so with TA gone and AB killed, i dont really have much incentive to play GW.

I do understand, its awesome to run lolbuilds. I was against this really good warrior that used water trident as replacement for bulls. That shit just never gets old. It didnt keep him from killing most of his opponents nonetheless.
A good player can get the most out of any bar, even tho it's a lolbar.
Can recommend the combination of 1 GwK rit + 2 erf shaker warriors for all our hilarity (rit precasts GwK, qknocks a group of people, then the 2 warriors qknock of one anothers KD's and so on). Our mesmer sometimes runs grapple just to be a douche, especially when he rather consistently nails WoH with it :P.
I also hurd wastrels collapse + jesus beam is strong.,,,

Who would of thought that a thread about AB being dead would attract so many keyboard warriors..
Seriously though, fix map rotations and we'll all be happy pandas. Til then there's no point talking about it or raging at others, just keep AB'ing and be happy and I'll see you all in the matches! pewpew

Atm the AB npc's not spawning in euro guildhalls isn't helping making AB be more active.
Syncing is lame, doesn't make wins feel right anyways. Looooong way back when being in old kurz [lion]s ally did that. But these days ... no way!
Having good allies isn't always sync. Sometimes lux got 2 good team, when 1 good team is on kurz. Sometimes the other way arround.
I remember months ago i teamed up with a person from vD and fatty. Good monk, good teamplayer. What more could one want?
As for AB spirit: Win or Lose with our heads up, that's what matters.

Well i also rage, but never quit, at least never if i play with ppl i know. When its 300 vs 100 its better to go make coffee and let them slaughter allies and save resign for later. And i actually often hate AB in it's current state, but my gf plays it for reasons unknown, so i stick around.
PS. And yea i never pug, just coz my nerves not eternal, iam tired of wanting to kill all the dumb-asses i meet in ab, and getting massacred coz allies r so called cappers and cant kill any1, often even npc's and then u end being stomped again and again by huge mob.

There will always be a place for AB in my heart. Kept this game playable for over 5 years. Its a shame to see it so dead now. I don't even get why town owning guilds try to own towns in a dead game anyway.

Why are the rewards between JQ, FA and AB unbalanced?
I remember when they buffed them, but did they buff them unbalanced on purpose? Or is this more of a case of player perception?

I think the AB guy who lets you into the outpost has run into some horrible fate. Can the A.R.E.N.A. commandos send a search&rescue?

My guess is they buffed JQ/FA to attract more players in those CM's.
Most people played AB for the fun factor and because you could make your own teams.
I too think AB was the most fun i've had in the game and it's sad to see that gone. I don't think we'll see a change to this either since it's been around for so long now.
What I don't get is why Kurz has so many players and lux so few.
Yet lux own everything. is it MQSC being faster than Kurz fff?

AB died a slow but a glorious death. An Arena that had little change over the 3 years (?).
First blow was dealt with a reward buff to the imbalanced Fort Aspenwoond and bot infested Jade Quarry.
Even then it had a large competitive player base to continue.
At some point because either 90% was at that time kurzick and therefor they suffered long waiting times or the luxons got orginized faster the win/lose ratio shifted rapidly towards the luxons. Causing in the later periods 80/90% Grentz Frontier and later Perma Ancestral land. Once it got stuck there luxon playerbase lost interest because of the huge map disadvantage and even with this disadvantage they kept winning most of the battles. At the end the number of players were so low that elite teams with TA builds made the difference in either winning or losing the battle. At that state i stopped since the waiting times begun to increase at the luxon side from around 1 minute to 30 minutes.
Now even with Zaishen quest on AB the map remains unpopular. (You also require to have a large player base, around 24 people for only 1 match).
And the map is still stuck at Kurzick Ancestral lands side.

We're not in past tense quite yet. I play AB nearly every day, so I would know if it was utterly dead.
Times of activity during the day are far more strict than they've ever been, though. Usually AB starts between 10am-1pm EST and continues till 6-8pm, then it's pretty much deserted until the next day. Sad because people that play American nights catch the tail end if anything.
Also, ZQ does actually bring a pretty big influx of teams during the whole day.

It all boils down to no one wants to play AB anymore. The lack of people makes AB dead.

People don't AB because rewards are shitty compared to FA/JQ, you can earn kurz/lux faction from vanquishing and its always stuck on shitterlands because kurzicks are terrible.
